Ingrown toenails can be painful and occurs when the side of the nail curls down and grows into the skin around the nail.

A doctor's intervention can sometimes be criticial. If the area becomes infected, the infection can spread and infect the underlying bone.

  • red

  • swollen

  • surrounded by hardened skin
